Perpetuum Mobile by Penguin Cafe Orchestra - solo guitar arrangement
Important notes:
the whole arrangement is pretty loose. I usually follow this structure: intro, twice around the theme-octave-chord section, into the counterpoint and variations, straight back into the held chord section, then anding on 8 repeats of the counterpoint with a crescendo. This is shorter than the original, as it’s quite repetitive, I feel like it should be shortened when played solo
This version is based on the 2019 YouTube video. I’ve since changed how I play it (I now use a chordinero, which allows me to play the arrangement without having to detune the G string). I really don’t like how the section that goes to the V chord was performed, so I’ve changed the fingering without changing any of the voicing.
Because there’s no convention on tablature for cut capo arrangement, I’ve written the open strings as 0, but strings A, D and G don’t have a 1st and 2nd fret, it goes straight from 0 to 3. I hope this makes sense, please let me know your thoughts.
